The Lepers of Eden
I thought it must be
A gift from God
The interdigitation of the flesh
The paroxysms of carnal pleasure,
My love for him a gift from Him.
A symphony of beautiful bodies,
Reclining on that delicious shore.
The lust that had to be spent,
Seemed to me most heavenly--
I thought they were all divine,
Your angels, blond and tall,
Dark and stocky-- I loved them all.
And then the plague came
We knew what was in store,
Though without knowing why.
We must leave Eden or die.
We all planned to go, I'm sure.
Sooner or later. But some lingered long
For a final, fatal kiss.
And now we are the lepers of Eden,
Once blessed, now damned,
The abandoned of thine eyes.
